Junior Planner + GIS Technician

Zachary is a Junior Planner and GIS Technician at The Urban Collaborative, where he combines technical expertise with a passion for impactful planning. A graduate of the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, he leverages his deep knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to drive innovative solutions in project planning and development.

Before joining The Urban Collaborative in 2025, Zachary spent four years as an active-duty GIS analyst in the U.S. Army, where he refined his technical skills while supporting high-stakes military operations. During this time, he earned a Professional GIS Certificate from Michigan State University, further enhancing his expertise. Now a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, Zachary continues his service with dedication, balancing his professional growth with his commitment to duty.

At the UC, Zachary’s diverse GIS experience is integral to improving planning processes and empowering data-driven decision-making. Outside of work, he finds joy in exploring the outdoors, running, drawing, traveling, and creating meaningful moments with friends and family. His blend of technical skill, military discipline, and creativity makes him a dynamic member of the team.
