The Federal Planning Division of the American Planning Association recently recognized The Urban Collaborative, with three national design awards. These awards reflect great credit on the firm’s commitment to collaborative and participatory processes as well as the firm’s focus on sustainability planning on all scales. A blind peer review jury led by distinguished planning professional selected the award winners. The Urban Collaborative received the following awards this year:
Outstanding Federal Planning Program – Honor Award: USAG-Bavaria Housing Area Development Plans, USAG-Bavaria, Germany. Sponsor: USACE – Europe District. The Atkins-Urban Collaborative Joint Venture
Outstanding Federal Planning Project – Honor Award: Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Customer Concept Documents FY18, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. Sponsor: USACE – Fort Worth District. Under contract to Leidos
Outstanding Area/Site Development Plan – Citation Award: Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston Corporate District Area Development and Execution Plans, JBSA, Texas. Sponsor: USACE – Fort Worth District. Under contract to Leidos
The competition included projects submitted by some of the largest architecture and planning firms in the country doing work for the U.S. federal government around the globe. A total of 18 projects were recognized in this year’s program. Sixty-two nominations were submitted. The Urban Collaborative will be receiving their awards at the Federal Planning Division’s conference in San Francisco on April 17, 2019.
