Hesham Issa

Africa & Middle East Program Director, Senior Architect

Dr. Hesham K. Issa is a senior architect and urban planner with over 25 years of experience. His interests in cross cultural modes of architectural designs evolved from his teaching and research as an academic and in his practice as an international architect in the Middle East.
 
Dr. Issa has extensive experience in urban development, commercial and civic buildings, private residences, historic urban preservation, and healthcare facilities.  Dr. Issa is a licensed architect in Egypt and the Middle East. He is a member of the International Associate of the American Institute of Architects.
 
Dr. Issa holds a joint PhD in Urban Planning from University of California, Berkeley and Cairo University and a Masters of Architecture from Cairo University. He is also a former Chair of the Architecture Engineering and Technology Program at Cairo University and a Professor of Architecture in the Department of Architecture at Cairo University. Dr. Issa joined The Urban Collaborative in 2018 and manages the UC’s Egypt office.
